Instructor Skills Workshop - Basic
Become A World Class Instructor (4 days)
Information about the Course
Our instructor workshop is designed around the eighteen IBSTPI standards (International Board of Standards for Training and Performance Improvement) to provide students with the fundamental presentation, classroom management and professional development skills necessary to be a World Class Instructor.
Classes are geared to small audiences so students receive hands-on practice using their new instructor skills.
During the workshop students will make three (3) presentations that are videotaped (for take home and student viewing only), and receive constructive oral, written and videotaped feedback on their practice presentations from the instructor and student peers.

Topics covered in the workshop include but are not limited to the following:
- Role and Responsibilities of an Instructor
- Delivery Skills
o Questioning Skills
o Listening Skills
o Presentation Skills
o Verbal Skills
o Non-Verbal Skills
o Communication Skills
- Skills for using both lecture and group discussion methods
- Skills for facilitating other training methods i.e.; structured learning events, printed self-paced instruction and computer-assisted and web-based instruction
- Managing the learning environment
- Objectively evaluating the learner’s performance
- Evaluating the effectiveness of the training
- Building an instructor’s yearly plan
- Building an instructor’s personal development plan
- Managing the Classroom
